Impact draw with D.C. Untied

The game-tape from the Montreal Impact at D.C. United game won’t be used for any instructional purposes, I can assure you of that. The final line was Impact 1 – United 1.

The first half was a quite “blah,” boring 45 minutes of soccer. There was a lot of back and forth possession and a bunch of offsides calls. Montreal striker, Sanna Nyassi, was flagged three separate times for it in the half! There was absolutely no rhythm whatsoever when the whistle blew for intermission.

Bernardo Corradi scored for the Impact in the 69th minute, as he headed in a nice cross from Lamar Neagle to the back post. Four minutes later, DCU’s Maicon Santos scored on a low shot, about 30 yards out, to beat Donovan Ricketts to the near post.

The Impact had chances to take the lead late in the game but couldn’t step up. In the 87th minute, Davy Arnaud had an attempt but it went wide.

The Portland Timbers are up next on the schedule for the Impact. Kickoff on April 28th from Stade Olympique is set 2p.m. ET. With this weekend off, take time to hit me up on Twitter at @MLSinMONTREAL and give me your thoughts on the team thus far. I would love to hear from you passionate Montreal fans.
