Game Recap: CAR RailHawks 2 – MLT Impact 1

Under overcast skies and heavy rain at Saputo Stadium in Montreal, the Impact fell to the Carolina RailHawks by a score of 2-1 today.

InsideMNSoccer.com: Etienne Barbara
The NASL’s current scoring leader, Etienne Barbara, scored both goals for the RailHawks in this one (8th & 9th of the year). Barbara now holds the Carolina franchise record for goals scored in a season and he’s done this in only seven games.

The Impact won in the department of shots taken today, 15-8. They had several scoring opportunities but could only muster one goal.

Montreal has now lost twice this season to the RailHawks of Carolina.

The Impact will play its next NASL match in Tampa Bay on Saturday May 21. Its next home contest will be three weeks from today (June 4).

Today’s contest marked the 50th career game for striker Ali Gerba with the Montreal Impact. I don’t believe Gerba can be left off the roster when the Impact make the jump to MLS next spring.
